Full Hydraulic Open Die Forging Hammer

Pneumatic Forging Hammer

C41

Self-contained pneumatic hammer requiring no external compressed-air supply — cast iron or cast steel construction, self-priming oil pump lubrication, and over 30 years of documented service in workshops worldwide.

Pneumatic Forging Hammer

Overview

About this machine

The Anyang pneumatic forging hammer ranges from 150 kg to 2000 kg and is widely used in industrial open die forging.

The C41 series serves general open die forging applications including drawing-out, upsetting, punching, chiseling, forging welding, bending and twisting, plus open-type close forging with bolster dies.

The hammer body uses cast steel or high-quality cast iron, making it exceptionally sturdy, capable of withstanding significant impact loads and boasting an exceptionally long service life: many units in established forging shops have operated for 30–40 years and more.

Features

Design features and technology

01

Self-contained design

These are self-contained pneumatic power hammers requiring no external air supply or high-pressure hoses. Operators can forge heavy stock and immediately switch to thin light stock with no adjustments, gaining tremendous forging power with precise control.

02

Forged internal components

Internal parts are forged steel and precision machined. There are no internal rubber air hoses to deteriorate over time, and the drive belts are external to the machine for easy adjustment and away from harmful oil.

03

Cast iron frame

Cast iron construction provides strength and precise mass placement and prevents warping, unlike steel fabricated alternatives.

04

Motor and crankshaft

The motor drives a flywheel with V belts, and the flywheel is attached to a crankshaft set on large tapered roller bearings in a crankcase filled with grease — good for decades of maintenance-free operation.

05

Compressor piston

The compressor piston creates the air pressure directed into the ram sections: the downstroke forces air upward, the upstroke forces it downward. Two compression rings and steel wipers prevent air leakage.

06

Machined steel valves

Two valves, an upper and a lower, operate together. They are precision machined steel with no rubber parts to deteriorate over time.

07

Ram floating on air

The ram floats on air inside the hammer. The forging force combines the ram weight, the amount of air pressure and the velocity of the ram, with sealing rings and stuffing box wipers.

08

Self-priming lubrication

The lubrication system has an oil reservoir, a flow control metering valve and a one-way check valve. During the downstroke, vacuum sucks oil into the hammer; the upstroke closes the check valve. Oil is not only a lubricant, it is also part of the sealing system.

09

Simple controls

Easy operation via hand lever or foot pedal, controlling idle run, top setting, pressing down, single blow and series blows as desired.

In use

Applications

  • Industrial open die forging: drawing-out, upsetting, punching, chiseling, forging welding, bending, twisting
  • Open-type close forging with bolster dies
  • Installations in service: C41-1000 in China and Brazil, C41-560 in Germany, C41-750 in Mexico, C41-2000 in India, C41-150 and C41-250 in Turkey

How to order

  • 1Never cold forge — the metal must be hot.
  • 2Never strike the dies together without red-hot steel between them.
  • 3Operate the foot pedal like the accelerator of a car: ease into the throttle, don’t stomp on it.
